One of the best things about homeschooling on a farm is that we are able to learn in so many different ways and places. For example, one of our favorite subjects is gardening. We love getting our hands dirty and learning about where our food comes from. Plus, it’s a great way to get some exercise!

You don’t have to use a textbook to teach kids about landforms and geography in the United States. Just start right where you are homeschooling outside. We don’t have mountains, or glaciers, or massive waterfalls nearby, but we do have some pretty neat stuff.
Before I homeschooled my kids, I spent over a decade working as a teacher in traditional schools. I thought that this experience would be great preparation for homeschooling my kids, and in some ways it is. But in other ways, I think that my experience in traditional schools makes it harder to homeschool my kids.
Homeschooling an only child is a unique journey, but one that we wouldn’t trade for the world! We love our little family of three and the freedom and joy that homeschooling has given us.
