My favorite homeschool shirt says “Teacher and Manager of Mischief” a nod to Harry Potter.  Don’t we all wish we all had a little bit of magic in us to help manage the mischief our kids get into?  I have learned some pretty magically tricks over the years as I listen to the advice and stories of those ahead of me on the homeschooling road. I want to share with you three magic tricks I have learned from my friends Jamie and Joann.

Learn from Veteran Moms

Jamie introduced me to the Morning time model where I could use my time more wisely to teach all my kids at once.  We switched and haven’t looked back, our school looks more like a one room school house now, where everyone learns together as much as we can.

Joann teaches online classes and took the time to listen to me explain my kids and helped me learn how outsourcing subjects could be helpful.  We tried it for one student and it was a great fit.  I needed the extra encouragement from a friend  to try something new.  She helped me remember the flexibility to stop using a program that doesn’t fit my child and find something else.

Both of these moms have shared their homeschool stories with me and become my superheroes.  The stories they shared with me make my homeschool and family better.  Every time I am around more experienced homeschoolers I learn something new: a little trick or tidbit I can put in my pocket to use later.  As our kids age we need to learn new strategies to parent and teach them well.  Everyone’s homeschool journey is different and while my tricks may or may not work for you, I know where you can  learn some tips that may fit your family.

Homeschool Super Heroes Week to the Rescue!

The ever-popular event to help homeschoolers like you get ready for their best year ever is coming August 22-26, 2022 and I’ll be there along with 50 other veteran homeschool moms speaking.  Each of us knows what it’s like to be in the trenches as a homeschool mom.  Together we have a combined total of 500+ years of homeschooling experience to share with you!  I’ll be there as part of the How to Homeschool Track sharing about Gifted and  Outside the Box learners.

During Homeschool Super Heroes Week,  You’ll find sessions to answer all the questions you have on your mind.  You will be equipped to overcome the overwhelm and homeschool with confidence.  You will find sessions on:

  • How to Homeschool
  • Homeschooling different subjects
  • The Charlotte Mason and Classical Model of Education
  • Other Approaches to homeschooling
  • Encouragement for you as a Teacher
  • Planning and Organization
  • Parenting and Faith
  • And More!

Each attendee will also receive a digital swag bag worth over $550 with practical helpful tools for you to start your year off right! Attendees are also invited to join the conference Facebook group as you can ask questions and find the support you need  to start the year well.  All the speakers and sponsors will be there to answer your questions.  Use it to build your Homeschool Super Powers!

Where to Find Me During the Week

Session 1: What to do when Handwriting comes With Tears

Fine Motor Delays was our first clue for the extra needs of our preschooler.  When Kindergarten came, handwriting brought tears and for a while we put the pencils away.  Now a middle schooler with dysgraphia (learning disability in writing) we have a toolbox of strategies to share with you to use with your own child and not let handwriting struggles slow down their other learning.

Session 2: How to Teach an Outside the Box Kid!

Homeschooling can be a great choice for kids who need to learn differently.  But how do we teach them differently when all we know ourselves is a traditional classroom? In this session we will explore different ways our kids learn, how to think differently as their teacher and practical strategies you can use to help your outside the box kids thrive!

Even being a veteran homeschooler I need to be encouraged as well, and I can’t wait to learn from the other presenters as well. I hope you will join me at the conference and we can all start  our year off on the right foot by adding some  Super Powers to our toolbox as parents and teachers.  See you there!
