s we start our 7th year of homeschooling, our theme will be Early American History as we begin 2nd, 5th and 6th grades. We did school year-round this year, so our fall subjects will begin by wrapping up each of our summer units.
His birthday is the first week of school, and he would be one of the youngest in a traditional classroom, but that doesn’t matter in our classroom. We make lots of accommodations for his Autism and ADHD as part of our routine.
He started demanding his own “school” at 3 (to be like the big kids, of course) so I complied with a preschool program for him. Here we are, 4 years later, starting 1st grade. He is the only one who has never been in a traditional classroom.
The flexibility to meet her where she is at is part if the beauty of homeschooling. This girl started it all when she was taking chapter books with her to her public school Kindergarten class.
We are starting our 6th year of homeschooling this fall with 5th grade, 4th grade and 1st grade. Our theme this year will be Medieval history. I can’t believe its year 6 already, in so many ways I am still learning as I go.
