Our homeschool has always been full of energy and active kids who like to listen to a story for a minute and then are off to do something else. It was hard to keep up. It took awhile to learn that part of the quick pace was that my kids had trouble focusing on their school work. We have learned to adapt, and our normal includes homeschooling with focus challenges.

Though I help our homeschool by supporting it financially, keeping the house clean (ish), and teaching reading after work hours… my beard growing, plaid wearing, firewood chopping husband is the primary caregiver and teacher of our 4 young children.

Losing my husband in 2019, going from a family of five to a family of four, has been a world of adjustment. Grief is an insanely heavy weight to carry. That’s what I remember the most about all of it in the beginning, the weight of reality.
the fact that we are a Jewish homeschool family differentiates us the most because there are very few Jewish homeschoolers. In fact, I helped create the very first Jewish homeschool curriculum, Ani VeAmi, which means “I and my people.”
One of the best things about homeschooling on a farm is that we are able to learn in so many different ways and places. For example, one of our favorite subjects is gardening. We love getting our hands dirty and learning about where our food comes from. Plus, it’s a great way to get some exercise!
