Every year our family makes a bucket list of the things we all want to do to celebrate the season. If it doesn’t make the list, it isn’t a priority for that year. It’s an idea that started at the theme parks. We can’t ride every ride every trip, so each visit each child picks a ride or attraction.
We will be starting our 8th year of homeschool soon with an 8y (4th grade), 10y (6th grade), and 12y (7th-9th grade). We will continue for a second year working our way through American History. With Out of the Box kids, grade levels are hard to follow;
Over that time I have found a few systems I use to stay organized and to keep school organized with three grade levels going at the same time. One of the most important set of tools I use is Google Workplace products.
As I write this it is April, which is also World Autism Month. Autism is a part of our family. The challenging part about autism is the broad range of what it looks like in each person. When you meet one autistic person, all you can say is that you have met one autistic person. Each person and family is affected differently. There is a wide range of capabilities and strengths across the autistic spectrum, and each person struggles differently.
Every family who chooses to homeschool has their own reasons for making that choice. The reasons to homeschool your children are as varied as the families themselves. We have been homeschooling since 2013. My reasons to homeschool has changed over the years but we remain convinced that it is the best education environment for my kids and family.
