Homeschool Art Appreciation, like science, is a very large subject area with many parts. Doing messy projects did not excite me with a house of littles and I didn’t know where to start. So for our first few years of homeschooling we didn’t do formal art lessons.
He lived most of his adult life in Springfield, the Illinois state capitol. It was here that he raised his family, practiced law, and served in the state legislature before becoming President. The Lincoln Home National Historic Site where he resided is a National Park site
Homeschooling is also a lifestyle, so for us, it’s important to find ways to include our homeschool Dad in our learning, even if he is not able to be in our classroom during our morning school time. We have found ways to use Dad’s strengths to help keep the house running smoothly and to share the teaching load.
They want to know the “why” of everything, which can lead the family to some interesting discussions. Recently, it led us down a brand new trail for our science after a trip to Space Center Houston.
Going as a couple to the convention allowed us to experience the speakers together. We reminded ourselves of our commitment together to educate our children. While I do the majority of the day to day teaching, I wouldn’t be successful without my husband’s support and occasional “substitute teaching”. We were able to discover philosophies together and programs that we both liked that would work for our family.
