When the weather changes we like to change our homeschool rhythm to make space to enjoy the seasons. We lighten our book based school work to give us time and energy to do other kinds of learning.
Today used that extra space to have some hands on learning outside. We drive by the local university Arboreteum everytime we visit the grandparents, but we never stop. Today was the day to make a stop and explore.
Traveling with Outside the Box kids can be a challenge. There will be lots of unfamiliar when you travel, and that can be especially hard for some kids who crave the sameness and routine of home.
Homeschool Art Appreciation, like science, is a very large subject area with many parts. Doing messy projects did not excite me with a house of littles and I didn’t know where to start. So for our first few years of homeschooling we didn’t do formal art lessons.
Those early years of homeschool preschool still influence our homeschooling today. They helped me discover what kind of teacher I was and also what kind of student my oldest was.
I think a homeschool photography class can be a great outlet for Outside the Box Kids because it is all about capturing what they see, and not recreating it with their own hands either by writing or drawing which can be a challenge for some.
